Gender equality

Definition: Promoting gender equality in the work place, reducing gender gaps and supporting job desegregation

Theme H partnerships are concerned with reducing gender inequalities. The work has included the development of pay audit tools, producing training and support materials for careers advisers, providing women with access to science, engineering, ICT, transport and other sectors, and challenging both gender and ethnic stereotyping. Products include research on the employment of women in ICT, an e-learning website challenging stereotyping, live drama and drama DVD, research materials and role models on DVD.

Agender - Challenging gender stereotypes at work Background The Agender Partnership has drawn partners from the voluntary, community, public and private sectors including Primary Care Trusts, public authorities, Sure Start programmes, Children’s Centres, Information, Advice and Guidance networks, local businesses and business brokers. Close the Gap Aim The aim of the Close the Gap DP was to close the gap between the pay of men and women in SMEs in Scotland by: enabling employers to carry out pay audits encouraging effective action plan to be developed engaging unions in making equal pay a priority empowering women to challenge pay discrimination. CWLWM - Childcare Wales Learning & Working Mutually Background CWLWM is a ground-breaking, sectoral partnership of key national organisations and grassroots practitioners working together for the first time to give a co-ordinated voice to the childcare and play sector and support a high quality, integrated childcare service for the children and families in Wales. GERI - Gender Equality & Race Inclusion Aims GERI (Gender Equality Race Inclusion), is a Not for Profit Company, formed on completion of EQUAL Round One Completion.

JIVE - Joining Policy and Joining Practice Background JIVE is a national partnership led by the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science Engineering and Technology at Bradford College. Projects (11), products (20)

Women into Work: Building Futures Background Equal Opportunities Commission research shows that occupational segregation is one of the key causes of the gender pay gap and may be a factor contributing to the cycle of social exclusion encountered by disadvantaged women if they choose to pursue traditional roles such as nursing or childcare. Advancing Women's Employability The overall aim of the project was to help employers understand the business case for improving gender equality and to change how older women view their employment potential.

Alternative solutions to viability and sustainability of childcare provision. Cardiff County Council Cardiff County Council’s Children and Young People’s Partnership Framework (CYPPF) aims to identify new funding solutions to enhance the Cymorth (Children and Youth Support) Fund to implement local childcare plans; research and develop new structures for the strategic planning of childcare places in Cardiff; and consider long term sustainability of funding for childcare provision.
