Business creation

Definition: Opening up the business creation process to all by providing the tools required for setting up in business and for the identification and exploitation of new possibilities for creating employment in urban and rural areas

Theme C partnerships focused on business creation and covered a wide range of support and materials for entrepreneurs and those providing support for business creation. Examples of work covered include training and support for disadvantaged and under-represented groups, support for women entrepreneurs and access to finance. Products include mentoring websites, research into business creation amongst excluded groups, case studies, materials and guides for mentors, DVD and CD materials, handbooks and qualifications.

CREATE + - Creating Equal Access to Enterprise - Round 1 led by Exemplas >> Aim The aim of the CREATE development partnership was to encourage people from disadvantaged groups to consider self-employment, using structured business formats (SBFs) such as franchising, licensing and agency distribution agreements as business models.

CREATE Round 2 >> Description CREATE is a unique partnership of national business support organisations who have joined together to help people who are considering self-employment, particularly through franchising. Projects (1)

Cyfenter 1 (2001-2005) >> Aim The aim of the Cyfenter Development Partnership was to influence and develop mainstream business support policies and practices within pre-start and enterprise support for excluded groups of entrepreneurs which would enable them to start up new enterprises. Cyfenter 2 (2005 - 2007) >> Background Half of all businesses starting up in Wales fail within five years and many new enterprises encounter difficulties which are specific to gender, age, disability, language, and ethnic differences. Projects (2), products (4)

Partnership for Innovation and Enterprise >> Aim The aim of the Partnership for Innovation and Enterprise Development Partnership (DP) was to develop inclusive and innovative models, materials and methodologies to assist individuals in accessing business creation opportunities, complementing the Scottish Business Birthrate Strategy. REFLEX - Re-generating Enterprise through Facilitating Local Economic Exchange >> The aim of the REFLEX DP was to offer practical and innovative solutions to build the capacity of local community organisations to engage in and deliver business advice.
