Definition: To test innovative approaches to attract non-traditional learners to improve their basic and new skills’

Theme E partnerships have addressed the extension of lifelong learning. Many have focused on ways of engaging older people in the labour market, and others have worked in community and family-based learning, and in initiatives specifically directed at people with disabilities and other priority target groups. Products include an equal opportunities guide for SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) managers, family learning materials, lifelong learning and active ageing research, learning materials, guides and handbooks, websites, good-practice reports, sector-specific materials, DVDs and CDs.

CLIP - Community Learning and Innovation Partnership >> Aim The project aimed to trial methods of reaching learners in a wide range of community settings. Projects (25), products (37)

Construction Development Partnership >> Aim The aim of the Construction Development Partnership DP was to train and employ Sheffield people for the new employment opportunities resulting from a major investment in the infrastructure of the city.

COOL - Creating Opportunities for Ongoing Learning >> Background All activity undertaken by the partnership has a common basis in the Scottish policy document ‘Life Through Learning Through Life’ in relation to some of the most disadvantaged and disengaged individuals and groups in Scotland. Engage - Birmingham and Solihull >> Background The DP originated from organisations in Birmingham and Solihull involved in adult continuing learning: the colleges, voluntary sector, NIACE, Ufi, Birmingham Adult Education Service, libraries and local authorities, finding pockets of non-engagement and establishing a project to trial ways of tackling the issues. Engage - East Midlands >> Background The East Midlands Engage partnership has been focusing on vocational training with a sectoral focus. Projects (1), products (5)

Engage - East of England >> Background The project as a whole looks at ways of working with offenders, ways to validate offenders' experiences in ways that can be utilised in the workplace as well as to motivate them to find employment. Projects (4)

Engage - South East >> Background Tri-regional working The SE Engage project is part of a tri-regional approach to addressing disadvantage in the labour market faced by sentenced offenders. Projects (1)

Engage - South West Region: Route to Jobs >> Background The South West Engage project 'Route to Jobs' is based in three prisons, focusing on tackling the barriers to employment through three avenues: workshops on employment, career development, letters of disclosure, CVs and the ETE pathway industry-led NVQ2 for the railway sector self-employment for women. Engage - Yorkshire and the Humber >> Background   The Yorkshire and the Humber regional project will facilitate the development of an employment opportunity for offenders in the Yorkshire and Humber region while the potential employees are still in prison, and support them to gain employment on release.
