Gender equality

Definition: Promoting gender equality in the work place, reducing gender gaps and supporting job desegregation

Theme H partnerships were concerned with reducing gender inequalities. The work included the development of pay audit tools, producing training and support materials for careers advisers, providing women with access to science, engineering, ICT, transport and other sectors, and challenging both gender and ethnic stereotyping. Products include research on the employment of women in ICT, an e-learning website challenging stereotyping, live drama and drama DVD, research materials and role models on DVD.

Motivation to Employment (M2E) >>ECUBE is part of Motivation to Employment (M2E), a transnational partnership with partners from France, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic and the UK.

Primavera >> The transnational partnership has been working on: exchange of experience of childcare sector development, resulting in a best practice handbook information on different systems of childcare financing, resulting in a report exchanging experience and support methodologies for third sector business start-ups and childcare business start-ups, resulting in a collection of case studies experience and practice of minority language childcare provision, resulting in a comparative report shared events for dissemination and mainstreaming.

South Lanarkshire Council Regeneration >> The overall aim of the project is to work within the South Lanarkshire Council community planning partnership (CPP) to raise awareness of and trial a gender-aware regeneration policy programme to establish the criteria for best practice for CPPs.

Strategic Vision of Childcare: Welsh Assembly Government >> The Welsh Assembly Government is responsible for policy, funding and (through the Care Standards Inspectorate) regulation of childcare in Wales.

Text 2 Learn >> The project was designed to combat horizontal segregation by creating opportunities for flexible career development amongst low-paid women in private sector nursing and residential care homes.

The Athena Project >> The Athena Project was established to advance and promote the careers of women in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) in Higher Education and to increase the number of women recruited to top posts.

The sustainability of childcare provision: Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association >> This project involves research into social enterprise, business sponsorship and other alternative solutions to sustaining childcare provision.

Training for Playworkers: Playwork Partnerships >> Playwork Partnerships, hosted by the University of Gloucestershire, is a networking and training organisation.

Training Programmes >>TheFuirich Transport Development Partnership developed various training programmes to demonstrate the benefits of recruiting and developing a diverse workforce.

Training resources for employers >>The JIVE partnership developed a wide range of products aimed at assessing and giving advice to employers on gender equality.

Unionlearn National >> At national level, Unionlearn has been supporting innovative ways to promote and facilitate equal opportunities in workplace learning, and to empower learners to gain the skills they require to enhance career progression.

Visibility works - Keighley and District Training Association Ltd (Kadtal) >>Kadtal worked in collaboration with the Keighley Asian Women and Children's Centre to set up a new Crèche work agency and provide training to Asian women in obtaining childcare qualifications.

Welsh and English regional hub infrastructure >>This project focuses on the impact and sustainability of the Welsh and English regional hub infrastructure of the JIVE partnership, and its effectiveness in addressing gender segregation in the labour market.
