Asylum Positive Images Project, ATLAS Scotland - Action for Training and Learning for Asylum Seekers
Description
The project has conducted extensive media monitoring research in conjunction with Glasgow Caledonian University. The aim of the research was to identify and analyse the types of asylum seeker stories reported in the press and whether the reporting was negative or positive.
The project has established of a network of asylum seekers, refugees, community groups and national NGOs that will co-ordinate the “positive images” work and will work collaboratively to tackle issues and shape the work around using positive messages about asylum to influence public and political opinion.

Building Bridges: Asylum and the MediaA successful conference called “Building Bridges – Asylum and the Media” was held by the project in November 2004 and brought together asylum seekers, journalists and asylum seeker/refugee organisations.
