Response on behalf of the Social Enterprise Coalition on the Joint Note on Social Issues. The most important issue to tackle is public procurement. Britain's public sector spends 200 billion euros per year excluding wages, and it is a market where social enterprises can often deliver better quality results. There is a lot of talk about improving the access of social enterprises to public action but very little action. This note outlines the steps that Social Enterprise East Midlands is taking to address the issue at local level with major public sector organisations.
